Crash sends woman to hospital, driver to jail | Crime
A one-vehicle crash Monday night sent a Piggott woman to a Memphis hospital and a Campbell man to jail.
The crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Butler County Road 228, 6 miles south of Qulin.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, 46-year-old Jerry D. Townsend of Campbell was westbound when he lost control of his 2003 Dodge pickup truck, slid off the road and overturned.
Investigators at the scene reported Tracy D. Townsend, 42, of Piggott was thrown from the truck. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Tracy Townsend was airlifted to The MED in Memphis, TN.
Jerry Townsend, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene, according to the report.
According to the MSHP online arrest report, he was charged with felony assault-second degree and placed on a 12-hour hold in the Butler County Jail. No other details have been released.
